Donald Trump Officially Announces 2024 Bid For President

Former President Donald Trump announced Tuesday night from his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida that he’s running for president a third time. Trump announced his 2024 bid moments after filing a statement of candidacy with the Federal Election Commission.

“In order to make America great and glorious again, I am tonight announcing my candidacy for president of the United States,” Trump said, to cheers from his supporters.

Two years ago, we were a great nation, and soon, we will be a great nation again,” Trump, 76, told his supporters in a speech that was often more subdued than many of his various rallies.

He continued, saying that under his leadership as president once more, the United States was a “great, glorious nation” that was the “pinnacle of power and prestige.

He also touted his work combating the COVID-19 pandemic, U.S. energy dominance, the closed southern border and his relationships with Russia, North Korea and China. Additionally, Trump called out the blasted the current inflation and gas prices and said Russia’s invasion into Ukraine would have never happened if he was president.

He also said that America is now a failing nation under the Biden administration.
