President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden on Sunday paid their respects to Queen Elizabeth II as world leaders gathered in London ahead of the late monarch’s state funeral.
The President of the United States and the First Lady of the United States arrived in the United Kingdom ahead of the state funeral planned for Monday (September 19).
Before the funeral, the couple paid their respects as the late monarch lies in state.
The Bidens gave tribute to the queen as her coffin lie in Westminster Hall, with the president putting his hand over his heart. He and the first lady also signed condolence books, with the president writing that she “hosted everything with dignity and respect.”
The Bidens also attended King Charles III’s reception at Buckingham Palace.
He also addressed the media in a moving speech about the Queen, commenting on her commitment to service and her impact on community. He also gave a nod to King Charles, saying his mother would be with him every step of the way.
