Squid Game’ Actor Oh Yeong-su Indicted on Sexual Misconduct Charges
The 78-year-old actor – best known for playing Player 001 on Netflix’s Squid Game – was indicted on sexual misconduct charges on Thursday (November 24) in Suwon, South Korea.
He was released without detention on Thursday after he was accused of inappropriately touching a woman’s body in mid-2017, according to Korea JoongAng Daily.
The alleged victim filed a complaint against Yeong-su in December of last year, but authorities closed the case in April. The case was recently reopened at the victim’s request, the Yonhap news agency reports.
Yeong-su released a statement denying the allegations.
Korean broadcaster JTBC said that the O said he had “just held her hand to guide the way around the lake” and that though he did apologize, “it doesn’t mean that I admit the charges.”
O won the Best Supporting Actor in a Series Award at the Golden Globes for his portrayal of Oh Il-nam in Squid Game.
